What is a Freehouse you ask?
In a nutshell, it is exactly that…a bar that is Free from Big Brewery influence.
We pour what we want based on taste and customer feedback. We are not under any contracts with any brewery so we only stock the very best that NZ brewers have to offer.
As long as you have a good attitude you are welcome, kids, big and small appreciate the chalkboard tables and we encourage you to bring your four legged friends down to enjoy our awesome patio looking out onto the green space of The Lumsden Green.
Two Pinball machines and old school space invader machines as well as a pool table means even if you are on an awkward date, there’s something to help fill the silences!
We show almost every sporting event, have a popular weekly trivia night, monthly comedy nights, monthly drink & draw events and can offer personalised beer or bourbon tastings, there is truly something for everyone.

Great place for a get together, conveniently located in the heart of newmarket. Servers were excellent and the private area is so cozy you'd think you were relaxing at home!

Great beer and whiskey selection, and superior food to many pubs. Good staff and ambiance. Definitely my go-to pub, reminiscent of bars from back home in the Pacific Northwest. (Portland to Vancouver)
